Going the extra mile

ENGINEER SCOUTer ANALYST DIRECTOR LEADER

Jim Gruman
Our work as analysts requires integrity. We bring a sort of courage, even swagger, to be focused on tangible measures of the customer’s well being
Over the years, I’ve had a hand in delivering steel office seating design, agricultural tractor design, plastic component and tooling purchasing, tractor product management, and smart systems that leverage data. I enjoy solving problems that matter.

A couple of years ago I decided to take on another master's degree as a technical refresher. Big Data platforms are transforming how we fulfill our most basic human needs, like the ways we get around and how food comes to our family tables. Notre Dame’s program offered a balanced mix of data modeling rigor with effective storytelling and AI ethics.

Today, you’ll find me collaborating cross-functionally on all things data, from product management to artificial intelligence. As a firm believer in teams, I am passionate about developing and empowering people to unlock their full potential, working together.

When I'm not modeling statistics or pivoting tables, I'm biking centuries and helping with an area Scouting unit.

  4. -
    Senior Program Manager, CNH Industrial

At the time the Precision Solutions aftermarket group wanted to get into the telematics business, but didn't have compelling business cases worked out.  As a tractor product manager, I had experiences where statistical modeling of real customer data would have been a huge advantage over the use of surveys and logs of complaints.  The VP of the group created a new role for me to drive programs and build infrastructure in the cloud.

  5. -
4WD Platform Product Specialist, CNH Industrial

This is the classic product manager role, filling the gap between branded regional marketing stakeholders and core product development.

  6. -
    Strategic Sourcing Roles, CNH Industrial

I traveled the world and managed an awesome buyer team in this sequence of roles.  My office moved from Racine, WI to Burr Ridge, IL as we centralized all of the sourcing administration.

  8. -
    MBA, University of Wisconsin Parkside

Night school. I missed a day of class when our third child was born.  The small cohorts included people from the local Air Force Reserve Wing, Snap-On, Abbott Labs, Johnson Controls, and other area companies.
